Family Christian Martial Arts is a Christ-centered program, dedicated to fostering the spiritual growth and physical development of its members through the faithful proclamation of the Word of God and the discipline of the martial arts.
~~ Family Christian Martial Arts mission statement

Family Christian Martial Arts, formerly known as "Shadow Mountain Karate," has served in San Diego County for over 25 years. We provide an atmosphere that avoids the Eastern philosophies that are prevalent in many martial arts schools, while still stressing areas in which the martial arts are beneficial to improving the student’s spiritual maturity – areas such as discipline, respect, and responsibility.

Following our beginner’s class there is a brief devotional lesson aimed at improving the student’s relationship with God and encouraging our students to live lives in accordance to God’s will, as recorded in the Bible.

Family Christian Martial Arts is a member in good standing of the United Fighting Arts Federation™, and teaches the style of Chun Kuk Do™. Chun Kuk Do, meaning "The Universal Way," is the martial arts style founded by Mr. Chuck Norris. Chun Kuk Do follows a colored-belt system that continually gives new goals to its members, encouraging the students to build a diligent work ethic, and constantly rewarding the students for their effort and improvements.

Family Christian Martial Arts meets year-round on Monday and Thursday evenings, with our beginner’s class meeting from 5:30-6:30pm (see Calendar for any days off). We meet in the Fellowship Hall of Casa De Oro Baptist Church (Map/Directions available).

Our class is open to students ages 7 and up. We charge $50/month, with a yearly insurance fee of $25, but no uniform or payment is needed for beginners. Just come in flexible clothes to workout in and try out the school. If continued attendance is desired after a few weeks, payment and the purchase of a uniform will then be appropriate.
